MSC to build largest cruise ship ever

MSC Cruises is currently in negotiations with the Meyer group for the construction of a new class of ships that are expected to exceed 250,000 tons and 365 metres long.

The vessels are expected to be built at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland and are expected to be a direct response to rival Royal Caribbean's Icon Class.

Currently the largest ship in the world is the Icon of the Seas and has 248,663 gross tons, 364 meters long and 20 decks available for guests.

Currently, MSC Cruises is the third largest cruise line in terms of fleet size, but the Italian company wants to become the largest and surpass Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Line, and its main objective is to increase its presence in the North American cruise market.

The design of this new class will probably be based on the new concept presented by Meyer Turku and many attractions will probably be based on the Icon Class, just as MSC World Class has attractions and part of the design based on the Oasis Class.
